An experimental film from Derby by a first time filmmaker, Black Biscuit loosely follows the adventures of Matt, a young man embarking on a search for a first job, and a life.

With few companies willing to hire someone with no references and no experience it proves a nearly impossible task until Matt decides to explore a more unconventional route. He makes ends meet by doing everything from modelling for a community college life drawing class for seniors to branching out into the lower echelons of the sex industry.

He goes on to meet an eccentric Italian who attempts to show him the ropes, an over the top gigolo who offers up advice on making women feel good about themselves while providing tips on how to spot negative post-coital body language. He also visits a dominatrix’s lair when he acts as a subject for a new recruit. After hours there’s a lot of time spent in pubs, in one scene playing ping pong to a soundtrack of a Noel Gallagher interview about the emotional benefits of throwing TV’s out of hotel windows.

Shot on what looks like a variety of degraded lo fi formats it’s a promising start for a new filmmaker intent on experimentation.
