Short Synopsis:

An existential beach party movie about life, death, sex, drugs and other shit that totally fucks you up.

Vacation is the third feature from maverick US indie auteur Zach Clark who previously screened at Raindance 2009 with his feature, Modern Love Is Automatic. Here he takes us on a wild ride to the seaside accompanied by four hormonal young women.

Sugar invites 3 old friends from her college days to take a weeks vacation at a friends beach house in North Carolina. Lorelei is still hung up on her ex boyfriend Dave, while glamazon Dee-Dee is caught up in a lesbian affair and school teacher Donna (Trieste Kelly Dunn) dodges all advances .to remain primly single.

The girls spend their days dressing up in blond wigs to go shopping  getting high and hanging out with the local surfer slash drug dealer. But the breezy tone abruptly darkens when the girls drop acid during an all night party and someone is found dead the next morning.

Clark reprises the talents of two of the stars of Modern Love with Maggie Ross in the role of Sugar and the statuesque Melodie Sisk as Dee-Dee. Trieste, Kelly Dunn, recently voted one of 25 new faces to watch by Filmmaker magazine, plays Donna and Lydia Hyslop appears as Lorelei . Clark has developed his own breezy, style which, during the acid sequence  is doused with saturated colour for an almost hyper-realist aesthetic. He also collides digital images with those of the girls’ camcorders to create a breezy post punk style that singles him out as a director to keep an eye on.
