IFTRaindance and The Independent Film Trust, the charity with which we work, have got together to assemble a series of benefactor packages composed of festival, training and British Independent Film Awards elements that offer exclusive access to some of the capital's most prestigious film events of the year. Each package also contains a donation element to cover the charitable work that we do together, including our filmmaking work with disadvantaged teens and adults.

The packages are being sold by the IFT, which will be able to claim Gift Aid on the donation element.

What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid is a government scheme that enables registered charities in the United Kingdom to claim the tax back from the Inland Revenue on donations from individual taxpayers. It also allows companies (and unincorporated associations) to claim tax relief on donations.

If you are currently an individual UK taxpayer, and you fill out a Gift Aid declaration when you make a donation, the IFT can claim back 25p for every £1 that you donate. And the Government will pay an additional 3p on every £1 for donations made up until 5 April 2011. This transitional relief does not affect your personal tax position.
You can download the Gift Aid declaration from here, print, complete and sign it and then send it to Neil McCartney (IFT Chairman) by scanning and emailing it or posting it to Neil McCartney, The IFT, 99 Ifield Road, London, SW10 9AS. In the first section of the declaration, please tick the box for option three, since this means that the declaration is valid for all gifts in the future (meaning that you do not need to go through this procedure again!) and for any gifts you may have made to the IFT in the six years prior to signing the declaration. The IFT retains these forms for its own records and do not ordinarily have to send them to HMRC.
