Nowadays there is no excuse not to make the short film you have been telling your friends and family you are going to make for the last five years.
With the arise of digital camera and editing, and the amount of actors out there, it is actually easier to make a short film, than explain to people why you haven’t made it.

This course will take away all the confusion about shooting short films and complications that you might think exist.
This course takes place over three evenings and then a one-day shoot.
The three evenings will cover planning and pre-production of the short film, and the day will be spent completely shooting the short film.
A script, locations and actors will be provided.
NB. Editing etc, will take place after the course has finished.

An explanation of every crewmembers role from 1st AD to grip.

Anyone who has a basic understanding of how to shoot but has yet to make a short film.
People in other departments (sound, production, editing etc) who feel they want to know more about actual film making rather than just talking about it all day long.
Anyone thinking about making their own short film, but lacking experience and confidence – Do this course first and then your short film will be a thousand times better. *
Also people who are passionate about films, but have never had the opportunity to actually make one – it is never too late to start!
*Raindance cannot guarantee that your short film will be a thousand time better, but it will be heaps better, which is still a lot.

Martin started off as a Camera assistant in 1994. He has since worked on more than 200 broadcast TV projects, 13 feature films, and more than 500 hours of live TV.
He has worked on Big Brother, East Enders, Robot-Wars, Harry Potter, James Bond and even the Muppets.
He has been on tour with Kylie, the Foo Fighters and Daphne and Celeste.
After all this time in the camera-department he has finally decided to be a Director: The hours are longer, but there isn’t as much heavy lifting. Currently he is Directing Hollyoaks.
As a director he has made more than 20 short films, been runner up with BBC Best new Directors two years running, and recently been part of the BAFTA Winning and EMMY nominated team on Spooks interactive.
