Collabor8te and Raindance are challenging London's filmmakers to make the best 5-minute film in 48-hours.

10 short-listed films will be premiered at the Raindance Film Festival 2012 ahead of the winner being announced.

Judges will include acclaimed photographer and filmmaker Rankin, and prizes will include Raindance courses.

    The Challenge

The Raindance Collabor8te 48-Hour Film Challenge will take place between 7pm, Friday 28th September 2012 and 7pm on Sunday 30th September 2012.

Filmmaking Teams will be briefed at the Apollo Cinema Piccadilly Circus, 19 Lower Regent Street, London SW1Y 4LR at 7pm Friday 28/09/12 by a member of Collabor8te.

Every participating Team must have a member present at the briefing; this person will act as Team Leader. Team Leaders must be 18+ in order to complete all relevant forms and releases.

Teams must deliver their film by 7pm on 30/09/12 to info@collabor8te.com in any of the following formats: 16:9 or 4:3 uploaded to Vimeo or YouTube (HD resolution preferable, e.g. 720p or higher). Along with a link to their film, Teams must also send their completed forms and releases to the same email address at that time (see Rules for details).

Short-listed Teams will be notified on Wednesday 3rd October and given 4 complimentary tickets to the screening.

Short-listed films will be screened and the winning film announced at 6.30pm, Thursday 4th October at the Apollo Cinema Piccadilly Circus.

Films must include certain set dialogue and/or themes. These will be announced at the briefing on Friday 28/09/12

    The Rules

    1. All teams must supply their own equipment, stock, crew, cast, and post-production. Raindance and Collabor8te will not provide any budget or deferred payment or supply any in kind support to any team.

    2. The Film may be not shorter than 3 minutes and must be up to 6 minutes in length including titles and credits. Credits must not exceed 1-minute in length. Any film exceeding 6 minutes in total may become ineligible, at the judges discretion.

    3. Credits must include the words:
This film was made for the Raindance Collabor8te 48-Hour Film Challenge 2012

    4. The entire film must be created within the 48-hour period. Pre-existing stock, footage or images may not be included within the Film. Any animation and special effects must be created within the 48-hour period.

    5. Music: It is imperative that teams have the rights to all music used in their films (whether created for the challenge or pre-existing) and must provide releases.

    6. The Film may not infringe third-party rights; must be suitable for publication (ie. may not be obscene or indecent); must not contain obscene or pornographic material; may not contain defamatory statements about any person, company, organisation, or entity; may not invade privacy or other rights of any person, company or entity; may not in any other way violate applicable laws and regulations; and may not contain any copyrighted elements (other than as owned by the Entrant).

    7. Films must be delivered in any of the following formats: 16:9 or 4:3 uploaded to Vimeo or YouTube (HD resolution preferable, e.g. 720p or higher).

    8. Films must be delivered with completed and signed: Team Leader Agreement, Film Certification, Contributor Release (for each member of the cast and crew), Location Release (where applicable), Music Release (for each unique piece of music; a score with pauses throughout an entire film counts as one unique piece).

    9. Films will not be screened before the organisers receive the signed releases.

10, Raindance and Collabor8te accept no responsibility for entries lost, damaged, or corrupt files, whether received via email or otherwise.

    11. The Film must be made exclusively for the Raindance Collabor8te 48-Hour Film Challenge 2012 and must not have been used for any prior festival, commercial, or competition purposes.

    12. Judges from Raindance and Collabor8te will choose a single winner from all entries received. The judges decision is final. A shortlist of 10 entries will be shown at a screening at the Apollo Cinema Piccadilly Circus on Thursday 4th October at 6.30pm

    13. Short-listed teams will be notified on Wednesday 3rd October and will each receive 4 tickets to the Raindance Collabor8te screening at the Apollo Cinema Piccadilly Circus.

    14. The prize is a £1000 voucher redeemable against Raindance course, membership or products. Other prizes to be announced at the discretion of Raindance and Collabor8te.
