Event Details

In this workshop, Josh Golding, author of Maverick Screenwriting (Bloomsbury, 2012) will challenge you to think outside the box.  Do you want to get your film noticed, to create a stir at festivals?  Josh will introduce you to the some of the narrative and stylistic strategies that can help your story stand out from the crowd, and reflect your own unique way of looking at the world.

Every film and television executive says they’re looking for original stories, but what does that mean?  The techniques of Maverick Screenwriting will help you play with time, reality and point of view in the service of stories that change the way we look at the world.  Discover the techniques that get daring new filmmakers talked about, and give big-budget films like The Matrix, The Truman Show and Avatar an original twist.

Josh Golding has worked as a script consultant, producer and screenwriting teacher in Hollywood and Europe for over twenty years.  He began his career working for the Samuel Goldwyn Company in Los Angeles, before working for MGM/Pathe, BBC Films and PBS.  He is currently Associate Lecturer in Screenwriting at Central St. Martin’s College, at the University of Arts in London.
