The latest film from young Argentinian horror director, Adrian Garcia Bogliano sees him branching out into the  realm of the supernatural thriller with Here Comes The Devil. The film recounts the tale of a young couple and their children who are on vacation in Tijuana, Mexico. While they visit  a mountainous area on the outskirts of the city for the day, they hesitantly agree to let their young son and daughter explore a nearby cave on condition they arrive back on time at the meeting point.

They soon find themselves in a panic stricken state however, as the kids fail to show up at the agreed time. When they are finally found the next morning, they seem withdrawn and not quite the same as before. As time goes by, questions continue over their  strange behaviour and suspicions begin to surface that they may have been abused by a local man. Inevitably, tension seeps into the couple’s own relationship which seems to unravel in parallel to the unfolding mystery.

Bogliano moves away from his earlier horror outings to reveal a subtler slice of terror. Citing Nicolas Roeg’s Don’t Look Now as well as Picnic At Hanging Rock as influences this is a mysterious and stylistically beguiling film which steadily creeps up on the viewer with Bogliano ratcheting up the suspense at every turn.
