Tracing a year in the life of eclectic US indie-folk rocker Andrew Bird, Xan Aranda's documentary shuffles between live performances, interviews and behind the scenes footage to weave an intimate portrait of a boldly original performer.

Centred upon Bird's intimately textural, densely layered sounds, recorded live over two nights in October 2009, this warmly shot film details a hectic year of touring that sees Bird (and his band)
struggle through 200 shows as he waged a constant battle against encroaching fever. Bandmates describe him as 'always freezing, always shivering', but Bird's own brand of poetic optimism prefers to see it as developing a 'different kind of metabolism' to cope with the rigours of touring.

Filled to the brim with Bird's complex, wistful songs, Fever Year is destined to satisfy die-hard fans and Bird-novices alike. His intriguing live process is represented by full concert performances of
tracks from each of his albums, alongside more intimate performances of new tunes, including an incredibly haunting studio version of Sifters and a hotel room run-through of Lusitania with touring buddy St Vincent.
