Chris Crocker, a trans-gendered gay man rocking a platinum blonde bob and eyeliner first came to international attention after Britney Spears’ very public meltdown. Who doesn’t remember the parade of images of her being carted off for psychiatric assessments, shaving her hair off at the local barbers, the tearful breakdowns amid impromptu interviews as she wandered the streets of L.A. alone? Circa 2007 they all but dominated the news.

Super fan Crocker achieved overnight celebrity status when his ‘Leave Britney Alone’ Youtube rants caused an internet sensation. Crocker grew up poor in Bristol, Tennessee, born to a 14 year old mother but raised and home-schooled by his long-suffering grandparents.
Previously an almost complete unknown, his was now a name on everybody’s radar and the secret? – merely to hitch a ride on the celebrity bandwagon. Genius or not, Crocker’s extreme self promotion earned him a place in front of Youtube’s global audience - one that was divided into love it or loathe camps - and he shocked even himself with how quickly he’d become international marmite.

This frenetically charged experimental documentary from filmmakers Valerie Veatch and Chris Moukarbel (and exec produced by, amongst others, Michael Stipe) employs a multitude of formats to take the viewer on a whirlwind tour of how to get famous fast, as long as you're sure that’s what you really, really want.
