Jean Claude Jones is a 60 year old, French double-bass player living in Israel. Over the year's his musical style has transitioned from straight-up jazz to the more rarified atmosphere of free improvisation. Founder of his own record-label, concert organiser and jazz professor JC, as he is known, has been a passionate musician all his life, but since the 1980s he has been suffering from the degenerative, and progressive, symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis.

This intimate documentary spends a year with JC, following his music and performances, his vibrant social life and the huge amounts of time and energy he devotes to a young protege, Ariel Lanyi. This piano-playing wunderkind has a clear thirst for the knowledge JC can provide and their touching relationship forms an emotional core for the film.

But it's not all fun an musical games. JC – and his ability to make the music that drives him – are clearly running out of time. And it's not just him that's suffering, those close to him feel the brunt of it too. As his wife says, 'there are three people involved in living with someone with a chronic disease: me, him, and the MS.'
