In Z»ro D»faut, on an autumn day, 28-year-old MichÀle goes onto night shift
in a French car plant. At the same moment, Farouk retires, after 35 years on
the assembly line. Suddenly there is nothingness, silence. MichÀle and Farouk
are neighbours. They run into each other and talk. J»remie is MichÀle's husband,
same age, same life. He's a crew head in the sheet metal workshop. Some time
ago, he tried to make sense of it all. Today, day and night, he needs 'quality
control' and 'zero defects'. A terrible story of a breaking couple, filmed with
accuracy and subtlety. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the director
Pierre Schoeller.
In La Chose Publique Philippe, a film director, finds himself entangled in
a major contradicton. He is commissioned by the Arte television channel to make
a film with the theme of masculinity / feminity. A firm believer in equality,
he sets his film 'La Chose Publique' in the world of politics. Meanwhile, he
has to face a nasty discovery in his love life, namely the struggle for equality.
The film's two narrative levels recount the impossible making of 'La Chose Publique'.
