Louise (Sophia Myles), a nubile eighteen-year-old at Lady Margaret Oakes School
for Girls, is enjoying her romance with Matt, a sexy older man who is the art
professor at the school. The only problem is that the romance is a duplicitous
affair and Matt's wife is the stoic headmaster of the school, Veronica (Sophie
Ward). Unable to bear the thought of leaving her lover over the term break,
Louise convinces Veronica to let her stay in the deserted dorms of the boarding
school. The two lovers regret their carelessness when Veronica discovers them
in the throes of passion.
Matt breaks it off and after a fearsome fracas, disappears to Florence - or
so Veronica tells Louise. Haunted by nightmares accompanying her awkward isolation
with Veronica, Louise grows suspicious of Matt's absence. One night, awakened
by a troubled sleep, Louise thinks she hears Matt calling to her. She sees him
from her window and rushes to greet him, only to realize that her eyes were
deceived. A sinister friend of Veronica's creeping round the corridors doesn't
help to soothe Louise's fears either. Thoughtfully conceived and thrillingly
executed Out of Bounds blazes through unexpected twists and turns and tiptoes
through eerie silences. DS
