Mt Head forms the cornice of this celebration of the work of one of the most interesting experimental animators working today. With the coarsely-textured pellucid swirls of the semiabstract underwater voyage Aquatic, the exuberant hues of the promo for Kazuyoshi Nakamura's pre-millennial countdown single Jubilee, the fearsome medieval grotesquery of Bavel's Book, and the gleefully childish delights of the three- film series featuring the eccentric bird-like characters of Karo & Piyobupt, Yamamura uses a blend of techniques ranging from simple line drawing through claymation, photography and multi-planed 2D cel animation to delight us with a series of twelve short works that are by turns quirky, refreshing, surreal, inventive, and above all, downright fun.
