With less than honourable intentions Max, a scheming small time horse trainer
with big aspirations, weds Alica, the socialite daughter of shady racing mogul,
Barry. And they're off! Early leader Max sees that his bogus marriage will not
give him the power he'd expected and enlists his sex-addicted buddy, Henry, to
help him take out heavy favourite Barry by kidnapping the mogul's prize pony's
jockey's wife just before the Melbourne Cup. With the race fixed by his devious
plot, Max is sure he will make a winning bet yielding the spoils that will help
him woo his old flame, Jade.
Out of nowhere comes dark horse Ed, a lovesick psychopath with a score to settle
with Henry over the two timing seductive schoolgirl, Cindy. With the leaders
neck and neck, Becky, Cindy's angsty school friend, makes a break. Fed up with
her lowly station in life she steals her dad's car, commandeers a revolver,
and sets out to take control of her life. Coming into the homestretch each character
is in hot pursuit of someone or something without knowing the threats that await
them. Dust flying, they all come to a suspenseful, sidesplitting finish. In
this romping black comedy set against the colourful horseracing world, all bets
are off. DS
