They say a goldfish only has a seven-second memory; every swim around the bowl
is new and when two goldfish meet, it's always like the first time. Goldfish
Memory displays the headspinning sexual misadventures of boisterous, houseboat
dwelling Red who develops an interest in the flamboyant David whose girlfriend,
Rosie, hasn't seemed to realise that her man is gay. Meanwhile, Tom, a late
thirties college lecturer and legendary sexual predator is sleeping his way
through the class register. When Tom moves on to Isolde, his ex-lover Clara
experiments with a lesbian journalist called Angie who happens to be rowdy Red's
best mate. Set in the scenic fishbowl of funky Dublin, these sexy specimens
swap mates and make mistakes in a hilarious chain reaction of events.
Boasting a superb ensemble cast, Goldfish Memory explores the lighter side
of love - straight, gay, and inbetween - while trying to determine the exact
nature of the ideal relationship. Expertly shot on digital video, Dublin looks
good and sounds even better with a soundtrack featuring cuts from incredible
Irish talent including Damien Rice, The Frames, Sinead Lohan, and many others.
This film is a charming, sexy and intelligent look at 21st century Dublin. DS
Liz Gill made her directing debut in 1996 with Gold In The Streets and continued
with A Kiss Of Death and the play, A Woman's Place. She is currently developing
April Fools, a musical romantic comedy.
