Getting Hal is the first feature film from the Who Wants To Be A Movie Star? project. This unique concept was introduced by a group of filmmakers who banded together to produce a film where the lead and supporting roles were auctioned off to the highest bidders. The end result is an impressive spoof detective film.

After years of struggling to make ends meet, Dixie Randolph is about to see her dream come true. In just 48 hours, she is about to be the proud new owner of the ice skating rink that she loved as a child. However, Dixie soon finds herself on the end of a professional con trick and all her money disappears along with her boyfriend Hal. Receiving little help from the police, Dixie turns to an overworked, overweight, and over-the-hill private investigator, Phil Hannifan. Sole instructor at the Nick Harris School for Detectives, Phil teaches private eye skills to an odd assortment of would-be detectives. Soon Dixie's case becomes the class project for his current crop of hopefuls. What ensues is a comical array of disguises, spy gadgets and Magnum private eye obsessions that lead the bumbling sleuths on their way to getting Hal. OH
