Imagine a cross between Small Time Crooks and Welcome to Collinwood told with
a Spanish sense of humour. This is simply the biggest robbery never told. Epic
in proportions and ideas the mastermind of the plan is Santo (Antonio Resinas)
who is newly released from prison when he comes up with an idea of stealing
the motherland's most famous and biggest painting 'el Guernica'. He must convince
Zorba the Greek (Manuel Manquina) the forger to recreate a copy of the painting
so that they can switch it in the museum with a little help from the other gang
members. Their names will get into the papers after this daring robbery; their
places in the history books are already reserved. The rest of the gang is comprised
of Pinito (Javier Allen), the action man, Windows (Jaime Beatan), the computer
geek and Lucia (Neus Asensi) the femme fatale, who is also Santo's wife. The
movie is hilarious throughout, but when our hapless gang actually end up in
the museum the gags are multiplied, and the special effects are just spot on.
Look out for the spoofs of great and famous failed robberies. AK
