100 Doors is a powerful documentary which sets out to highlight the huge homelessness problem in this country today. The story is told by the director Kerri Davenport-Burton, who first ran away from home at the age of 12 and between the ages of 15 and 21 was permanently dependent on the generosity of others. Such 'hidden homelessness', where the subject does not sleep on the streets but in other's houses, is something that one could no longer possibly ignore after watching this very stark story.

The title of the film arises from the fact that Davenport- Burton had stayed in over 100 people's houses by the age of 21, or as she says, behind over 100 doors. The film follows her as she returns to the variety of squats and houses throughout London that sheltered her in her youth and talks to the people who once took her in. The film also contains insightful interviews with kids in the same position today, as well as the people who devote their time to working for charities and organisation which attempt to tackle the problem.

100 Doors is a witty, warm and unselfconscious look at a period of Davenport-Burton's life that was exciting, but at the same time left her deeply vulnerable and necessarily resourceful. OH

Kerri Davenport-Burton has been working in the film and television industry for over five years. Her first documentary was based on her travels around Romania delivering medical help to orphanages.
