This highly enjoyable high-school comedy takes on the zombie genre when three best friends, Philip, Konrad, and Weener botch up a ritual for raising the dead in the local cemetery and then suffer a car crash. Things get worse when, next morning, the three losers wake up in the morgue and begin to notice some differences – the voodoo ritual has actually worked and left them strolling around as zombies. Soon they are having to cope with losing parts of their body as well as all the usual problems and relationship crises that come with school life, but two of the kids start abusing their new super-human strength – Conrad starts mistaking his classmates for snacks during breaks whilst Weener uses his new powers to demonstrate his abilities in drinking contests. This leaves Philip the task of getting rid of their curse; with only thirty-six hours to accomplish his feat, he is forced to turn to their friend Rebecca who herself is in touch with the dark side. Skilful direction and a solid script enable the film to sustain a pace which grabs the viewer’s attention, and the film successfully blends genres, being a high-school film, a zombie flick and a comedy all at the same time. Good fun all round. OH
