Here comes another football comedy from Spain. Possibly moved by the success of Dias de Futbol (which sold out its screenings at last year's Raindance) the producers decided to grab one of the supporting characters from that movie, extend his screen time and put him in goal. After successfully stealing the show in Dias de Futbol, Fernando Tejero’s first lead role has been a long time coming; he finally gets the vote of confidence and it’s easy to see why – this guy can make you laugh in a second Here he plays a total loser, always hanging round with his bunch of unemployed friends. His decisive moment comes when he is called upon to stand in for the goalkeeper to face a penalty shot. But there’s a twist – the penalty is postponed for a while…
Amongst the comedy, Tejero portrays the lonely lot of the goalkeeper and the burden of expectation on his shoulders. Even if there is no European or World Cup football this year and the fever has been switched instead to a funny game called cricket, anyone interested in a fun, feel-good sports movie should see this.
