This supernatural comedy is set in present day Belgrade. The troubles begin when a book, which holds the secret to ancient evil, gets rediscovered by the wrong person. This time around it’s a high school psychopathic geek, Stanislav. The Harry Potter look-alike, armed with this incredible power, decides to kill everybody who used to ridicule him in the classroom. In the absence of any superheroes, fate chooses Stanislav’s classmates Cane, Tica and Mirko, to face this demonic horror, which has been looming for centuries from ancient Serbia. Together, armed with teenage angst they battle through a maze of strange situations and encounter even stranger people, from time weary guardians to club dwelling vampires. Will the teenage friends save the day? We don’t know but one thing is for certain, some of the classmates won’t live to see it.
Using high end post-production, Sheitan’s Warrior is an impressive debut project from the incredibly talented Hypnopolis group from Serbia. J.K Rowling and Joss Whedon, intertwined with unavoidable Serbian irony is something visually very different from these parts. With a mix of an up coming young cast and cameo appearances from the Serbian old time elite this film is a jewel to see. IZ
