FOURTEENTH RAINDANCE FILM FESTIVAL

GRUESOME

FRIDAY 6 OCTOBER AT 10:30 PM

Country USA Running Time 74 mins Format 35mm Directors/ Screenplay  Joshua Crook, Jeffrey Crook Producer Chris Ferry Director of Photography John Barrett Ashmore Cast Lauren Currie Lewis, Cody Darbe, Chris Ferry Print Source  Cinemavault, 175 Bloor Street East, Toronto, Canada M4W 3R8 Website www.salvagemovie.com

America seems to spawn high-profile brother-director teams, and the Crook brothers are the latest to join the pack by unleashing an onslaught of terror fused with groin-kicking reality and black humour in this movie that reads like a mad bad trip to hell.
Gruesome by name and gruesome by nature, this edge-of-the-seat chiller tells the story of Claire Parker, a college student who realises that she is somehow re-living the day of her own grisly murder again and again. On the run from her inevitable death, and trapped in a never-ending nightmare, Claire must uncover the terrifying truth behind the mystery that guides her fate.
Lauren Currie Lewis truly sets the film apart with her dazzling performance of Claire, in a performance so realistic and believable that I thought for a while I was watching a documentary about a series of hideous crimes.
This is the Crook Brothers fourth feature, but their first horror/thriller. On the strength of this film, they secured an agent, and the money to shoot another feature currently shooting in the same locale as this one. This film, originally titled Salvage, played to great accolades at this year’s Sundance Film Festival in the same slot in which The Blair Witch Project played. EG
