Thirty year old Goran lives in a small Bosnian town. He is a rarity,
having survived the war virtually unscathed unlike most of his friends. His
best friend Miro lost both arms. He lives comfortably from his parents’
inheritance and spends his days drinking with friends. But one night his
friends are killed in a booze-fuelled fight and Goran’s world is changed
forever. Unhinged, he sells all his belongings and sets out to make a difference
in the world. He decides to travel from town to town, handing out free
drinks along the way and sets himself two rules – one, that he will
never spend more than a night in each place and two, that he himself will not
drink a drop. At first he encounters suspicion and even hostility
before the locals accept his free booze but as word spreads he is faced
with less and less resistance. After a few weeks he meets a girl and falls in
love.
This leads him to break both of his rules with disastrous consequences.
Bringing together some of the finest actors from the region, this is
a film with a uniquely Yugoslavian flavour that sheds light on some of the
more subtle effects of war in the region. AK
