FOURTEENTH RAINDANCE FILM FESTIVAL

Tokyo International Fantastic Film Festival: Digital Short Award “600 Seconds” Project

SATURDAY 30 SEPTEMBER AT 11:30AM

The Digital Short Award “600 sec” was established by Seiko Ito of Tokyo
International Fantastic Film Festival for its 20th anniversary project in
2003 to provide filmmakers with support and a new opportunity to showcase
their work. The only rule is that the submitted works are exactly 10 minutes
(or 600 seconds) long. Everything else is down to the individual filmmaker.
Raindance are happy to be screening the best of the past three years.
The Plant Collection

Year: 2003

A pure love story for girls set on a small unknown island that can’t be
located on any map. The language spoken in this film is an original language
made up by the director.

A guy visits a friend who appears to be freaking out on something and starts
being engulfed into both him and the dark strange world of his house.

A woman and a man who both pursue dreams of becoming botanists have never
met. However, they are able to “feel” each other through their fingertips.

Harumoni

“Harumoni” means grandma in Korean. This is a private documentary on the
director’s own “harumoni”.

A strange and marvellous fantasy experienced by Miruko through the world of
mirrors.

Natsu, Sora, and Our Future

It's the first day of the high school summer vacation. Sora meets a curious
girl, Chinatsu in the deserted classroom, and their future is depicted in
the form of an animated manga comic. Grand Prize winner 2005.

The story of a couple and a ghost from the past. Miyuki takes her new
boyfriend Kadokawa to the seaside, because her ex-boyfriend Morimura is
there. Morimura celebrates her new relationship, but…
Helmeted Family

Ghost

In Okinawa, one must not dare go into the ocean during Obon, the traditional
summer festival in Japan in which dead ancestors are worshipped, because the
ghost spirits’ powers is at its strongest at this time. Two boys venture out
into the ocean unaware of what will happen to them…
