FOURTEENTH RAINDANCE FILM FESTIVAL

One cold, sleepless October night in Edinburgh. Five stories, each a dilemma to be solved before dawn.
Stewart is a single dad, struggling and failing to be a good one. He's just stolen a large pedigree dog he thinks he can sell; he badly needs the cash for his son’s birthday.
Matthew is a missionary to Scotland, from Africa, and guilty of the sin of pride. Mary, a homeless kid sheltering in his church for the night, is increasingly determined to challenge his faith. He gives as good as he gets, however.
Taxi-driver Jane has been let down by her babysitter and has her daughter Alison in the back of her cab. She spins a fairytale to keep Alison amused, but she can’t keep it up forever, particularly when the truth about their “Prince Charming” (anything but) becomes impossible to hide. Then her path crosses that of a blind man making his way across the city on the last journey he promised to a dear friend.
In perhaps the most affecting narrative strand, thirteen-year-old David is on the run, waiting for the first bus to London. Josh, a world-weary seventeen-year-old rent boy, simply won’t leave him alone. There’s a lifetime of experience to impart, but much of it remains unspoken.
This is a soulful, thoughtfully-composed urban drama about communication between generations, bringing together a strong cast of newcomers. LL
