FOURTEENTH RAINDANCE FILM FESTIVAL

GET THRASHED

TUESDAY 3 OCTOBER AT 9:15PM

Country  USA Running Time 100 mins Format DigiBeta Director/            Screenplay/Producer/ DoP Rick Ernst Featuring Death Angel, Tom Angelripper, Phil Anselmo Print Source Saigon 1515 Productions Email rick@getthrashed.com
Website www.getthrashed.com

In this energetic documentary, Rick Ernst traces the history of thrash metal from its very inception in 1980s LA. Questing after a real rush from metal music, fans were getting tired of the poppy mush on offer. In a post Black Sabbeth world, ‘hard’ rockers started developing a new sound of their own. So were born the underground beats of the likes of Metallica and Slayer.
Becoming way more than a music taste, almost a religion some would swear by, the music quickly spread to the Bay Area and New York. Bands like Metallica, Exodus, Anthrax, and many more graduated from small time fame to serious stardom by the late 80s. The days of backyard barbecue parties and concerts in club cellars seemed long gone by ’91 when Clash Of The Titans saw the biggest thrash names play to a packed out Madison Square Gardens. That tour, however ushered in an era of decline that thrash metal is only just recovering from.
With interviews from some of the biggest names in thrash as well as countless hardcore fans, this documentary covers every facet of heavy metal. From the intense rivalries between long haired, short haired, peaceful, violent, head-banging, moshing, crowd surfing, metal head, punk head, skin head (phew) … to the correct way to wear your leather jacket, this documentary is a worthy chronicle of Thrash metal.
